Application and Fees

The Law School admits students once a year for the fall semester. Those eligible to be considered for admission must hold or expect to receive a bachelor's degree from an accredited undergraduate college and must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).

Applicants must take or have taken the LSAT no more than five years before the date of expected enrollment. Applicants should refer to the Law School Admissions Council website for details about the test.

The deadline to apply is March 1, 2008.

Day and Evening Divisions

Applicants may apply to the Day or Evening Division or to both. The cost of applying to a single division is $30; the cost to apply to both is $45.

Approximately one-third of the seats in the first year class are for the Evening Division. Those seeking to apply for every available seat in the class should apply to both divisions.

Transfers from one division to another are possible after the completion of the first full year of study. Students may attend the Day Division full or part-time. Neither day nor evening students are permitted to deviate from the required curriculum for that division during the first year; nor may they add or substitute a course from the other division.

All Evening Division students are part-time students and must take a June term. Full-time study for the J.D. consists of three years; part-time study takes four years.

Those students wishing to apply for admission to an LL.M. program should request the separate application materials from those programs.

Reminder Regarding Financial Aid

The 2007-08 application for financial aid is now available at http://www.law.uconn.edu/studfin/. You do not have to submit your financial aid information with your law school application. However, if you are applying for financial aid, you must complete all financial aid documents. The deadline for submitting financial aid applications and documents is March 1, 2008, regardless of whether you have received an admission decision.

Transfer and Visiting Students

Under limited circumstances and to the extent that space is available; the School may admit a small number of transfer or visiting applicants. Law students from ABA-accredited schools considering transferring or visiting for up to one year should complete the application online as directed. The application deadline is July 1, 2008.

In deciding whether to grant admission, the School will consider, among other factors, the circumstances which require the student's presence in the Hartford area, the student's outstanding record of accomplishment at his or her law school, and the extent to which space is available. Applicants to transfer or visit should complete the application forms on this website, using the specific directions for transfer and visiting students.
