An introduction to a rapidly growing and changing area of important regulatory law. Topics include historical background, public policy considerations, branching and other entry restrictions, limitations of powers, separation of banking and commerce, regulatory systems, monetary control, consumer protection, nonbank competition and deregulation. This course will not consider Uniform Commercial Code. Restriction: Students who have previously taken LAW 833, Regulation of Financial Institutions, may not also enroll in this course.
