This course Is a detailed overview of the laws, in theory, practice and procedure, which enable aliens to enter, reside in and ultimately become citizens of the United States. This course examines the legal and social aspects of this administrative agency-based field including visas, detention, exclusion, deportation, relief from deportation, judicial review, and citizenship by birth and naturalization. Class work includes the preparation of a case involving visa application, bond and deportation hearings, two appeals and petition for naturalization, thus allowing the student to participate in a mock case from inception to completion. Beyond familiarizing a student with the field of immigration law, the course provides examples of practice before administrative agencies generally.
