Amer Constitutional History

Is a weekly reading seminar. Students prepare assigned readings for each class and present oral reports supplemented by either several short critical essays on the readings, or alternatively, one longer paper growing out of the course. A specific theme for the readings will be discussed at the first meeting. One possible theme is the historical debate over original intent as revealed in great transitional moments in constitutional history, such as the founding itself, the 14th Amendment, the New Deal, or Brown v. Board.
