Sports and the Law

Is a seminar that explores the legal regulation of sport. The unique legal problems of professional sports, including the nature of player contracts, league structure and rules, franchise agreements, broadcast licensing, and relationship to the anti-trust and tax laws are examined. One segment focuses on the formal organization of professional (and amateur) sport, another examines the relation between the athlete and the formal structure, with specific focus on the role of agents and of union representation in professional athletics.
