Human Rights Practice
- Class number: 12364
- Term: Spring 2006
- Instructor: Laura Dickinson
This course is the result of a unique collaboration between the University of Connecticut Law School and the United States Regime Crimes Liaison Office in Baghdad. Students undertake research and submit legal memoranda to assist in the prosecution of persons before the Iraqi Special Tribunal, a specially constituted Iraqi court with jurisdiction over war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, as well as several serious domestic Iraqi crimes, committed during the rule of Saddam Hussein. The course will provide students with a background in international humanitarian and human rights law, which will supply a basis for individual research projects on specific research questions requested by the Regime Crimes Liaison Office.
