This course examines the regulatory requirements associated with various transactions in which insurance companies participate. The goal of the class is to expose students not only to the requirements imposed on insurers when engaging in such transactions but also to the practical and political considerations involved. Among the transactions to be covered are the acquisition and disposition of assets, acquisitions of control and mergers, and affiliate transactions within holding company systems. The instructors plan to provide one or more sessions with regulatory personnel as part of the curriculum.
